How do you define manhood when there’s no manual? What do you do when you want to be a good partner but feel like you keep misstepping? Who do you look to when you have questions about fatherhood? Who do you reach out to when your son needs guidance from a male figure but doesn't have one? As men, sometimes we need a space to talk about what manhood means to us. As parents to black boys, we want to make sure our sons are fully supported. We need a space to feel seen, heard, and validated. We need a space to talk about life’s successes, challenges, and fears. We also need a space for accountability. Manhood is not a destination, but a process of learning and growing and we are most successful when we grow with our village. If this resonates with you, tap in. Let’s work.
I recognize the need for people to have therapists who look like them, and who have shared, or similar experiences navigating the world. I also acknowledge the stigma often associated with mental health, especially within communities of color so my goal is to help normalize prioritizing our mental health through therapy. I am passionate about supporting men who struggle with anxiety, depression, and self-esteem issues. My goal is to create a space in which men learn the connections between their thoughts, feelings, and actions. Additionally, I enjoy helping adolescents/teens and their families navigate challenges that stem from interpersonal conflict and difficulties related to communication.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate supervised by Jennifer Yarborough, LPC-S. I received my Bachelor's degree in Family and Child Development from Texas State University and my Master's of Education in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University.
